My approach
Many of the people I work with experience an overlap of concerns – including eating disorders, gut symptoms, and pelvic pain. Whilst I’ve described these areas separately, they often intersect in ways that can influence and amplify one another over time. My approach recognises that healing in one area often supports progress in another.
Eating disorders and disordered eating
As a dietitian, my intention is to hold a therapeutic space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours around food, eating, and your body.
I offer a safe, non-judgemental environment where we can gently unpack and make sense of the experiences that have shaped your relationship with food and body over time. Together, we identify changes that align with your values and recovery goals, and I support you in putting those changes into action.
Navigating the recovery journey is uncomfortable and challenging. It requires flexibility and ongoing adjustments in the type and level of support you need along the way. In the early stages of treatment, a more structured approach – such as a meal plan with a consistent schedule of meals and snacks across the day - is often what is most helpful. Adequate nourishment provides safety and stability for your body, laying the foundation for further recovery work. Over time, you will be supported to make gradual steps towards greater autonomy and flexibility with your eating.
I encourage you to share feedback with me and express your needs and preferences as we navigate the treatment pathway together. While I bring expertise in eating disorders and evidence-based nutrition care, you bring your lived experience, inner wisdom, and strengths. We work together as partners to make lasting changes that create a bigger, fuller, and more meaningful life beyond the bounds of the eating disorder.
Gut symptoms and pelvic pain
Living with chronic gut symptoms and pelvic pain can be physically exhausting and emotionally overwhelming. It often affects many areas of life – from work and relationships to eating, and the sense of connection and trust you have in your body.
My approach to nutrition care is holistic, grounded in contemporary pain science, and focused on supporting a calm and regulated nervous system. A key part of our work together involves reducing fear and anxiety around symptoms, and helping you move toward a greater sense of safety, comfort, and connection with your body.
If you choose to work with me, we begin with a comprehensive assessment to build a shared understanding of your symptoms and concerns, and the kind of support you’re ideally seeking from me as your dietitian. In our first appointment, we’ll review the information you’ve provided in your intake form, and explore your current eating patterns – and how they may have been affected by pain and distress. From there, we consider a range of nutrition strategies and tools that can support you in finding relief from chronic gut and pelvic pain symptoms.
It is important to note that I do not use highly restrictive dietary approaches, such as the full three-phase low FODMAP diet. Instead, I focus on helping clients establish eating patterns that are nourishing, sustainable, and enjoyable. This may include incorporating evidence-based anti-inflammatory eating principles, and exploring additional strategies to support digestive comfort and symptom relief.
